Syllabus - License Renewal CE Course

14 hours

Summary:  This continuing education course provides the KBHI required 14 hours of CE in compliance with 815 KAR 6:010 §7, which requires “at least 14 hours of continuing education per license year,” consisting of “a minimum of ... (3)(a) three (3) hours in manufactured housing; (b) three (3) hours in Kentucky laws and administrative regulations; and (c) six (6) hours in applicable standards of practice” given by a provider approved by the KBHI.

PLI was the first provider approved by KBHI, Provider # KBHI-P-1002, and KBHI CE-1002.  Its courses, with the exception of Kentucky Law, also are approved for Tennessee CE credits (Tennessee does not use Provider numbers), NAHI credits, and NACHI credits.

Although course topics (such as “Kentucky laws and administrative regulations”) are set out in the statutes and regulations, the content of each CE course is thoroughly updated.  For example, this February, 2008 “Kentucky laws and administrative regulations” covers (a) Senate Bill 22, now in front of the Kentucky legislature, to amend our home inspector licensing law in important ways, including the statute of limitations for lawsuits against home inspectors; (b) the new “Advisory Bulletin” process adopted by the Kentucky Board of Home Inspectors last December, and the first Bulletin, No. 07-001, on Federal Pacific Electric Panels; (c) the new Complaint process and forms for home inspector complaints, as well as some of the first examples of the complaints; and (d) much more.

PLI provides the required total of 14 hours for 2008 renewals in this two-day conference by:

CE-1002-002 – The First Annual CE Basic (14 hours)

PLI also provides a “mix and match” option that allows inspectors mix part of one program with part of a later one, for example:

CE-1002-009 – Advanced Kentucky Law & Regulations (3 hours)

                                              Or

CE-1002-005 – Contracts – Live Update (3 hours); and

CE-1002-012 – Advanced Manufactured Housing (3 hours); and

CE-1002-011 – Advanced Standards of Practice Update (6 hours); and

CE-1002-010 – Advanced Reporting, Writing & Communications (2 hours).
